The USD headline is a persisted aggregate of parallel-market observations. Fiat crosses and crypto prices are fetched server-side and cached. If the official feed is missing, we say so—we never invent a fallback.

How the rates work, where they come from and what you can do with them.
01What is the parallel market exchange rate?+
The parallel market rate is the price people commonly encounter outside the official banking window. Nairate combines current market observations into a reference rate so you can compare it with the official CBN NFEM rate.
02How often are Nairate rates updated?+
The live terminal checks for fresh market data every minute. Each rate shows its freshness, and Nairate warns you when the latest verified snapshot is delayed.
03How does Nairate calculate its headline rate?+
The USD/NGN headline is a persisted aggregate of independent parallel-market observations. Other fiat rates use live cross rates, while crypto-Naira prices combine USD spot prices with the live parallel USD/NGN rate.
04What is the difference between the parallel and CBN NFEM rates?+
The CBN NFEM rate is the official Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market reference published by the Central Bank of Nigeria. The parallel rate reflects a different market, so the difference between them is shown as the spread.
05Can I share a Nairate rate or conversion?+
Yes. Every main rate and conversion includes a share control that creates a branded Nairate image and caption for WhatsApp, X, Telegram and other supported apps.
06Can Nairate notify me when a rate reaches my target?+
Yes. You can create a verified email alert for a currency moving above or below your chosen target. Active alerts are checked every 15 minutes and can be managed from My Market.
07Does Nairate exchange money or cryptocurrency?+
No. Nairate is a market-information product. It does not sell currency, process transfers or facilitate cryptocurrency transactions.
08Are Nairate rates financial advice?+
No. Rates and conversions are informational estimates. Confirm the final price, fees and terms with your bank, exchange provider or counterparty before making a transaction.
